Minimum Qualifications:
Degree/Education: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD); Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology; Internship/Residency: Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions Board Certification: None Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands
Core Duties:
Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges. Provide clinical emergency and acute triage services for patients presenting with suicidal/homicidal risk, psychotic symptoms, and other disabling psychopathology. Provide a range of independent psychiatric evaluations from multiple referral sources which may involve determinations of fitness/suitability for duty. Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate. Conduct psychological testing and interpretation as clinically indicated. Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders. Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries. Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify supervisor, director, or other designated person regarding problems that the HCW is unable to manage. Effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety. Assist in rehabilitation of patients. Provide virtual care via DHA-approved platforms when clinically appropriate. Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth.
